Dear Dr. Reisfeld,
January 14, 2008
I had the ETS surgery for palmar hyperhidrosis in 2003 and wanted to thank you and your staff for all of help. Taking a standardized test in the past was nearly impossible without handing in a sopping wet ScanTron sheet. Since my surgery date, I was able to take the paper and pencil medical school entrance exams. I applied to medical school and now I am a second year medical student in Ohio! This surgery changed my life.
I haven’t had a day go by that I don’t think about how much better my life has become. Simple things like petting my cat or rabbit are still amazing, to me. I never really knew what my pets felt like. I was so used to clumps of fur coming off on my wet hands. My laptop can recognize my fingerstrokes on the tracking pad and the keys aren’t coated with a thin later of crusty salt. In the hospital I can get gloves on and off like a normal person. Before the surgery putting on gloves could easily take 10 minutes. I don’t have to surreptitiously wipe my hand on my pants throughout the day. It’s been a huge professional boon for me. People don’t pull back in disgust after shaking hands anymore. Honestly, this surgery got me where I am now and I could go on and on about the positive changes I have experienced.
I just can’t thank you enough for opening a hyperhidrosis center and for the care and professionalism I received while there.
Sincerely,
Sarah
