Compensatory Sweating and ETS
Understanding the variability in compensatory sweating ETS outcomes requires examining multiple factors that influence post-surgical responses. Research indicates that the level of sympathetic chain interruption directly correlates with the severity of compensatory sweating. Additionally, the surgical technique plays a critical role in the presentation of compensatory sweating. At the Center for Hyperhidrosis, we use small titanium clips instead of cutting or burning the nerves. The clipping technique, combined with the level at which clips are applied, results in compensatory sweating that is generally mild and predictable. In contrast, cutting or burning the nerve is associated with poorer outcomes.
